Research

Stamford Hospital is a teaching hospital and small academic medical center. The hospital has approximately 50 residents participating in active training programs in five disciplines.

Our programs, such as trauma and surgery, have active research programs. Surgical programs are under continuous review with procedures for evaluating and reviewing new recommendations from the American College of Surgeons (ACOS). The Department of Surgery publishes between 10-15 research papers every year. In the area of robotics we are researching how to better use the technology, for training and application. Specifically, we will be comparing robotic to laparoscopic approaches.

At the Center for Robotic Surgery we see the application of robotics as a way of progressively improving healthcare options in this area. By conducting studies and research we can show how better outcomes, prioritize use and improve post-operative care for our patients.
